Guest Speaker: Dr. Kyle Mulligan

Kyle Mulligan is the Assistant Vice President- Operations Technology at Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), where he is responsible for overseeing several of CPKC’s innovation and technology initiatives.

As a leader at CPKC, Kyle strives to deliver results while also mentoring those around him. He is a qualified locomotive engineer and conductor and has used his first-hand experience to lead the implementation of targeted operations technologies in the field. Notable innovations include never before seen industry technologies like broken rail detection in dark territory, predictive acoustic bearing failure technology, and zero-emission locomotives.

Kyle holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Sherbrooke in addition to degrees in computer systems, electrical, and biomedical engineering. He is a two-time recipient of CPKC’s CEO Award for Excellence, was named as one of Railway Age’s 2018 top 10 under 40, CPKC’s 2019 Railroader of the Year, and has received back-to-back 2018/2019 Railway Association of Canada safety awards.
